A Fine Scrimshaw Decorated Walnut Footstool.
Inlaid with whale ivory, whalebone and burl maple. Great cutout feet. The way the feet are screwed to the top through, large round holes vs a gouge carved screw pocket, has been found on furniture from Nantucket. CA 1850. 8" tall, 14" wide and 8 1/4" deep. small repairs to both ends of one apron, where they join the top. |
