The Best Blocked End,
Reverse Serpentine Front Chest. ONLY 32 1/4" case width! Owned by Revolutionary War General John Sullivan, The Chest is made with wonderfully figured Mahogany. It has a shaped top conforming, to the shaped front and blocked ends, which extend to the bracket feet. Excellent condition, with replaced sand cast brasses. Ca 1765-1785. Boston, MA (has large dovetail joining the base, to the bottom board as was used in Boston) provenance provided to the buyer. |
