The Great Oak in The Meadows by Henry Pember Smith.
The painting depicts a rural landscape with a very large gnarled oak tree in a meadow. A road winds between the tree and a pond on the left side of the painting. Notice the reflections in the pond. Henry Pember Smith is a very well known Connecticut artist who had a studio in New York City but returned to his birthplace in Waterford, Connecticut to paint during the summers. Oil on Canvas, in good relined condition. Measures: 20" by 13 1/2" sight and 28" by 20 1/2" |
