By Solon Francis Montecello Badger (1823-1919). signed Lower Left and on reverse, Dated 1897. The Merchant was built in 1862 in Boston and home ported in Providence RI. The painting is very well done, with lots of detail in the ship and rigging with the crew in various actions of sailing the vessel. Measures 261/2" by 42" sight. Excellent condition, recently cleaned. |
