The American Yacht Fleur-De-Lys By Antonio De Simone 1908
A Vivid Gouache of the American Yacht Fleur-De-Lys,
by Antonio De Simone (1850-1920) and dated 1908,
in the lower right.
She is rigged as a Top sail Schooner,
and is in the Bay of Naples with MT. Vesuvius,
in the background.

The Fleur de Lys was built in 1890,
by J. McDonald in Bath Me.
She was designed by Edward Burgess.
She was schooner rigged, 108 ft long,
with a 21' 9" beam and drew 14 ' of water.
She was owned by Lewis A. Stimson,MD of NY,NY,
who was a prominent member,
of the New York Yacht Club.

She is flying the American Flag,
and the Burgee of the New York Yacht Club.
The painting retains its original Oak frame.
Excellent condition,
with a small spot of water damage in lower edge.
measures: 25" by 18 1/2"sight and,
29 3/4" by 23" overall.
Antonio De Simone is famous for his depictions of, the grand yachts that sailed into Naples Bay,
during their Mediterranean cruises.
